Burning method is the most common and practical method. Draw down a strand of fabric yarn containing warp and weft yarn at the edge of the fabric, light it on fire, observe the state of the burning flame, smell the odor emitted by the burning fabric yarn and see the residue after burning, so as to judge whether the fabric composition marked on the product label is consistent with the authenticity of the fabric composition.
 
Cotton:
Small cotton cloth, close to the flame, will see the fabric does not melt nor shrink, contact the flame, the fabric burning very quickly, the flame will be yellow, with blue smoke, the residue after burning is relatively small, usually black or gray ashes.
 
Linen:
The ignition point of hemp is relatively low, burning faster, hemp burning flame is also yellow, smoke is also blue, the flame is pinched out, the nose smells a faint smell of grass; hemp residue is also relatively small, generally light gray or white.
 
Wool:
When encountering fire will first smoke, is burning parts will have bubbles produced, wool burning speed is also slower, burning when emitting the burning hair burnt smell. After burning, the ashes are black spherical particles with a luster, and they crumble when you press them with your fingers.
 
Silk:
Flame close to the silk material will curl but not melt, the burning speed is slower, you can also hear the sizzling sound, the flame will be extinguished by gently fanning the hand, there is the smell of burning hair, the residue is not all ashes, but also accompanied by black particles.
 
Polyester:
Polyester is easy to ignite, catch fire quickly, burning is melting and burning at the same time, black smoke, the flame is yellow, when the flame is extinguished, emitting aromatic odor, the burning residue is black-brown hard, can be crushed with fingers.
 
Viscose fiber:
Most of the composition of man-made cotton is viscose fiber, easy to burn, burn quickly, the flame is yellow, the smell emitted is burning paper smell, burning ash is less, the residue is more delicate, usually light gray or gray-white fine powder.
